About
It Takes A Village (ITAV) Wellness Center Inc. is a Black woman–led nonprofit dedicated to advancing racial equity and maternal well-being by providing culturally rooted, trauma-informed, and community-driven wellness services for Black, Latinx, immigrant, and refugee mothers. Our mission is to create safe, healing-centered spaces where mothers and birthing people—especially those impacted by systemic injustice, environmental trauma, and perinatal mental health challenges—can access support, reclaim joy, and thrive. We believe that when we invest in the wellness of mothers, we transform families, communities, and future generations.

We believe all people can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world.
Our Mission
To create safe, healing-centered spaces where mothers and birthing people—especially those impacted by systemic injustice, environmental trauma, and perinatal mental health challenges—can access support, reclaim joy, and thrive.

Our Vision
ITAV Wellness envisions a world where every Black, Latinx, immigrant, and refugee mother has access to culturally affirming, trauma-informed, and community-rooted care throughout the perinatal journey and beyond. We believe that when mothers are supported holistically—mind, body, and spirit—families thrive, communities heal, and generational cycles of injustice are broken.
We strive to build a future where:
-
Wellness is a human right, not a privilege.
-
Community wisdom is honored alongside clinical knowledge.
-
Systems of care are reimagined through the lens of equity, joy, and cultural pride.
-
Peer mentors, doulas, and caregivers with lived experience are valued as healers and leaders.
-
Black and Brown mothers are not merely surviving but thriving—emotionally, economically, and spiritually.
At ITAV Wellness, we are planting seeds of healing today so that future generations are born into a village that sees them, protects them, and believes in their wholeness from the very beginning.
